They are seeking an experienced and passionate Software QA Engineer with a Microsoft technology background. You will have the overall responsibility for providing risk assessments and mitigation, ensure effective test coverage and traceability, mentor less experienced testers, and own bug tracking and quality assurance.

Their IT department has also grown in recent months, and the right candidate will have the opportunity to help shape this growth; becoming a key player within this department - reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with the following;

Essential Skills:

Implementing all aspects of testing, including functional, regression, load and system testing
Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
Perform both black box and white box testing of the language technology applications.
Work with software architects, engineers, developers and system and database administrators to troubleshoot test failures in the various test environments. This may include trouble-shooting database issues, reviewing server logs, etc.
Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.
Estimate, prioritise, plan and coordinate testing activities.
Usability testing and customer journey tracking.
Design, develop and execute automation scripts using Microsoft & open source tools.
Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs.
Perform thorough regression testing when bugs have been resolved.
Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet company requirements.
Liaise with internal teams (e.g. software architects, engineers, developers and product managers) to identify system requirements.
Monitor debugging process results.
Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions.
Track quality assurance metrics, such as defect densities and open defect counts.
Assure the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential tools.

Desirable Skills:

Bachelor's in technical discipline or equivalent work experience is preferred.
Proven work experience in software development.
Proven work experience in software quality assurance.
Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, bug tracking systems, test design and execution.
Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing.
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools.
Solid knowledge of MSSQL and experience in ASP Classic, .NET, Microsoft Development Platforms are preferable.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work constructively with software architects, engineers, developers, systems and project managers towards a common goal.
